Horse racing in the United States gears up for Memorial Day weekend

Upcoming Horse Racing Events for Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend will be a thrilling time for horse racing fans as graded stakes races are set to take place across the United States, from New York to California, with stops in Kentucky and Texas as well.

Santa Anita will host some of its most prestigious races of the season on Monday, including the Grade I Shoemaker Mile and the Grade I Gamely Stakes for fillies and mares on the grass, as well as the Grade II Hollywood Gold Cup on the dirt.

Lone Star Park in Texas will feature the Grade III Steve Sexton Mile, the $300,000 Texas Derby, and the $200,000 Ouija Board Distaff for fillies and mares on both turf and dirt tracks.

Churchill Downs and Aqueduct will also have graded stakes races on Saturday and Monday.

Internationally, races such as the Japanese Derby at Tokyo Racecourse, the Group 1 Standard Chartered Champions & Chater Cup in Hong Kong, and the Irish Guineas and Gold Cup at the Curragh will showcase top talent from around the world.

Some of the key races to watch include the Grade II Pennine Ridge Stakes at Aqueduct, the Keertana Stakes at Churchill Downs, and the Santa Monica Stakes at Santa Anita, where Adare Manor will be looking to add another win to her impressive record.
