Pickleball Facilities in High Demand Across the U.S. in 2024, Says The Sports Facilities Companies

America’s Fastest Growing Sport Impacting Community Planning: The Rise of Pickleball Facilities led by The Sports Facilities Companies

The popularity of pickleball is on the rise, with America’s fastest-growing sport impacting community planning and facility development nationwide. The Sports Facilities Companies (SFC) is at the forefront of this trend, managing the largest network of sports and recreation facilities in the nation.

SFC reports that demand for facilities with pickleball courts has reached an all-time high in 2024. Nearly half of SFC’s facilities now accommodate pickleball, with the recently opened Rhythm and Rally Sports and Events in Macon, Georgia, being touted as the world’s largest indoor pickleball facility after converting a vacant mall.

The impact of pickleball goes beyond just being a sport, as it serves as a catalyst for community development and social engagement. SFC’s CEO, Jason Clement, stated that the establishment of facilities like Rhythm and Rally and the upcoming Lake Kennedy Racquet Center in Cape Coral, Florida, are not only meeting current demands but also influencing the future of urban sports facilities.

Community planners and facility developers are taking notice, with over 90% considering including pickleball in their feasibility studies for new complexes. Venues without permanent courts can easily convert their playing surfaces to accommodate pickleball courts.

Paul Midkiff, co-founder of Southern Pickleball, praised SFC for leading the way in the pickleball movement and helping communities meet the demand for courts. Events at facilities like Rhythm and Rally have significantly enhanced the player and spectator experience.

SFC’s existing and future venues that accommodate pickleball are listed, showcasing the widespread adoption of the sport across the country. With more venues being readied for pickleball, the trend shows no signs of slowing down.
