ESPN+ Secures Exclusive Extension with English FA for FA Cup Coverage Until 2028
ESPN+ has secured a groundbreaking extension with the English Football Association (FA) that will see exclusive FA Cup coverage on the platform until 2028. This partnership solidifies ESPN’s position as the go-to destination for one of the oldest and most prestigious soccer competitions in the world.
Under the terms of the agreement, ESPN+ will stream all 79 matches of the Emirates FA Cup each season exclusively in the United States. The deal also includes coverage of the FA Community Shield, a highly anticipated match between the FA Cup winners and the Premier League champions. Additionally, ESPN+ will be part of the new Venu Sports streaming platform, set to launch this fall by Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery.
The Emirates FA Cup, with a rich history dating back to 1871-72, features clubs from various levels of English football, showcasing the diversity and inclusivity of the tournament. With approximately 700 teams competing for the prestigious cup each season, the FA Cup is a symbol of tradition and passion in the soccer world.
Tim Bunnell, ESPN’s SVP of Programming and Acquisition, expressed excitement about continuing to provide fans with access to top European cup competitions and domestic leagues through ESPN+. FA Cup Commercial Director, James Gray, also shared his enthusiasm for the extended partnership, noting the growing interest in soccer in the U.S. and the upcoming FIFA World Cup in North America. He praised ESPN as a trusted partner and looked forward to sharing the unique stories of the FA Cup with American audiences until 2028.
In addition to the FA Cup, ESPN+ offers a wide range of soccer content, including matches from the National Women’s Soccer League, United Soccer League, and NCAA college championships. With top European leagues like LaLiga, Bundesliga, and Eredivisie also featured on the platform, ESPN+ is a comprehensive destination for soccer enthusiasts.
