Top Washington D.C. Neurologist Meets with President Biden’s Doctor at the White House

In a recent development, Dr. Kevin Cannard, a Parkinson’s disease expert at Walter Reed Medical Center, had a meeting with Dr. Kevin O’Connor, President Biden’s personal doctor, at the White House earlier this year. The meeting, which also included Dr. John E. Atwood, a cardiologist at Walter Reed, and another unidentified individual, took place on Jan. 17 at the White House residence clinic, according to visitor logs reviewed by The Post.

Dr. Cannard, who has been working at Walter Reed for nearly 20 years and is an authority on Parkinson’s disease, serves as the neurology specialist supporting the White House Medical Unit since 2012. His most recent paper, published in August 2023, focuses on the early-stage of Parkinson’s disease.

The meeting has raised questions about President Biden’s cognitive health, especially in light of his recent debate performance with former President Trump. Rep. Ronny Jackson, a doctor for both Presidents Obama and Trump, has suggested that the meeting likely revolved around Biden’s health, as Dr. O’Connor’s primary responsibility is the president’s well-being.

While Dr. O’Connor gave Biden a clean bill of health at his annual physical in February, concerns about the president’s cognitive health persist. Rep. Jackson has warned of a possible decline in Biden’s mental health and urged him to resign. Dr. Rob Howard from University College London also noted symptoms indicative of Parkinson’s disease in the president.

In response to these concerns, Sen. Roger Marshall called for transparency regarding President Biden’s health, especially if he is suffering from Parkinson’s disease. While Dr. Cannard and Dr. Atwood declined to comment, a White House spokesman stated that specialists from the Walter Reed system regularly visit the White House complex to treat military personnel, without divulging details about the meeting between the doctors and President Biden’s physician.
