ABC News had exclusive access to join Zelenskyy on a visit to a hospital in Kharkiv, where he met with soldiers injured in the northern defense and presented them with medals of valor.

During the visit, Zelenskyy expressed the importance of his presence in Kharkiv, stating, “We cannot afford to lose Kharkiv.” The President’s safety was a concern during the visit, leading to a quick and focused tour of the hospital.

Zelenskyy also highlighted the impact of the delay in U.S. aid on the ongoing war, stressing the urgency for support from the international community. When asked about the recent visit by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and the additional aid promised, Zelenskyy emphasized the need for immediate help.

The President’s plea for assistance is echoed by the soldiers on the front line, who are bravely defending their city. Despite the challenges they face, these men remain steadfast in their commitment to protecting Kharkiv. As one injured soldier, Maxim, stated, “It’s an honor, but I’d prefer to award this to the men who saved my life.”
