Yuzvendra Chahal and Avesh Khan head to the US for T20 World Cup | Cricket News

Indian Bowlers Yuzvendra Chahal and Avesh Khan Depart for ICC T20 World Cup in New York

Indian bowlers Yuzvendra Chahal and Avesh Khan have set off for New York to join the first group of the Men in Blue squad ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup, sparking excitement among fans. Chahal, who had a stellar IPL season with the Rajasthan Royals, where he took 18 wickets, is a key player in the World Cup squad, while Avesh Khan will be present as a reserve player.

The scene at the Mumbai airport was abuzz with anticipation as Avesh Khan was spotted on a video call with fellow reserve player Rinku Singh. The first batch of Indian players, led by skipper Rohit Sharma and including star performers like Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav, had already departed for the United States.

Head coach Rahul Dravid, along with other coaching staff and players like Ravindra Jadeja, Shubman Gill, and Mohammed Siraj, were among those seen at the airport bidding farewell to the departing players. However, players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, and Virat Kohli are yet to join the squad after finishing their IPL campaigns.

India is gearing up to kick off their T20 World Cup journey on June 5 against Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. The highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan is scheduled for June 9, followed by matches against USA and Canada.

With their eye set on ending their ICC trophy drought, India will be aiming to secure their first T20 World Cup title since their victorious campaign in 2007. Despite several close calls in recent tournaments, including reaching finals and semifinals, India has not been able to clinch a major ICC trophy in recent years.

The Men in Blue will be looking to make a mark in the upcoming tournament and bring home the coveted T20 World Cup trophy. With a strong squad and high hopes, the Indian team is poised to give their best on the field and make the country proud.
