ESPN+ Secures Exclusive FA Cup Coverage Until 2028, Solidifying Position as Premier Soccer Destination

In a groundbreaking move, ESPN+ has announced an extension with the English Football Association (FA) that will bring exclusive FA Cup coverage to the platform until 2028. This partnership cements ESPN’s status as the go-to destination for one of the oldest and most prestigious soccer competitions in the world.

Under the terms of the agreement, ESPN+ will exclusively stream all 79 matches of the Emirates FA Cup each season in the United States. Fans can also look forward to coverage of the FA Community Shield, a highly anticipated match between the FA Cup winners and the Premier League champions. Additionally, ESPN+ will be featured on the new Venu Sports streaming platform, set to launch this fall by Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery.

The Emirates FA Cup, steeped in history dating back to 1871-72, features teams from various levels of English football, showcasing the diversity and inclusivity of the tournament. With around 700 teams vying for the prestigious cup each season, the FA Cup is a symbol of tradition and passion in the soccer world.

Tim Bunnell, ESPN’s SVP of Programming and Acquisition, expressed his excitement about continuing to provide fans with access to top European cup competitions and domestic leagues through ESPN+. He highlighted the historical significance and popularity of the FA Cup, emphasizing the platform’s commitment to delivering compelling soccer content.

FA Cup Commercial Director, James Gray, also shared his enthusiasm for the extended partnership, noting the growing interest in soccer in the U.S. and the upcoming FIFA World Cup in North America. He praised ESPN as a trusted partner and looked forward to sharing the unique stories of the FA Cup with American audiences until 2028.

In addition to the FA Cup, ESPN+ offers a wide range of soccer content, including matches from the National Women’s Soccer League, United Soccer League, and NCAA college championships. With top European leagues like LaLiga, Bundesliga, and Eredivisie also featured on the platform, ESPN+ is a comprehensive destination for soccer enthusiasts.

With ESPN+ set to join the Venu Sports streaming platform, subscribers can expect continued access to FA Cup games and a diverse selection of sports content. The extension of the FA Cup agreement underscores ESPN’s dedication to delivering premium soccer coverage and enhancing the viewing experience for fans nationwide.
