Music Industry Reacts to Drake and Kendrick Lamar Feud: Snoop Dogg Stays Neutral, Stevie Wonder Speaks Out
Snoop Dogg Stays Neutral in Drake and Kendrick Lamar Feud, Praises Both Rappers for Elevating the Game
Legendary rapper Snoop Dogg has decided to stay neutral in the ongoing rap beef between two heavyweights in the industry, Drake and Kendrick Lamar. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Snoop commended both artists for raising the bar when it comes to lyrics, song-making, and writing.
“The only thing I want to say about that whole scenario is that I want to give both of them a shoutout for raising the bar as far as lyrics, as far as song-making and writing because the writing has been upped since the confrontation or whatever you call it, whatever they went through,” Snoop expressed.
Despite not taking sides, Snoop praised Drake and Lamar for their contributions to the genre. “They made you rap again. You can’t mumble your way and gimmick your way to a song no more, buddy. So, thank y’all,” he added.
The feud between Drake and Lamar dates back to 2013 and has escalated over the years with subtle jabs and diss tracks being released. However, Snoop believes that the competitive spirit between the two artists has ultimately pushed the boundaries of creativity in hip-hop.
While Snoop tries to remain neutral, Drake released a song titled “Taylor Made Freestyle” in April, taking aim at Lamar once again. The track also featured AI verses from Snoop and the late Tupac Shakur.
Snoop expressed confusion and humor over the verses in the song on social media, jokingly questioning what had transpired. Despite the drama, other musicians like Stevie Wonder have expressed that any war, including a musical one, is ultimately detrimental to the world.
As the feud continues to unfold, it’s clear that the impact of Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s rivalry extends beyond the realm of music, sparking conversations and differing opinions within the industry and among fans.
