Celebrating International Nurses Day 2024: Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust Nurses Honored

Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust Celebrates International Nurses Day 2024 with Week of Appreciation

In honor of International Nurses Day 2024, staff from Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust (ShropCom) have come together to host a week of celebrations to show their nursing staff how much they are valued.

The week kicked off with Patricia Davies, Chief Executive, and a team of colleagues donning their trainers and running as ‘Team ShropCom’ at the well-known Shrewsbury Park Run on Saturday, May 11, 2024. It was a team event that brought everyone together to do something fun and inspiring to mark the start of the week.

As part of the celebrations, the Trust launched their ShropCom Nursing Heroes campaign, where staff were invited to nominate their fellow nursing colleagues. The Trust received numerous moving and inspirational nominations, which will be shared across their social media channels throughout the week.

Additionally, a team of staff visited bases across the county, delivering delicious cakes and goody bags to the different community nursing teams, courtesy of the hospital kitchen teams and Sidoli Desserts.

Patricia Davies expressed her gratitude, stating, “I want to say a huge thank you to all our wonderful ShropCom nurses and the colleagues who joined me on Saturday to help launch the week! We are incredibly proud of our nurses and the high level of patient care they deliver every day.”

International Nurses Day is celebrated annually on May 12, the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. This year’s theme is “Our nurses, our future, the economic power of care,” and events are taking place across the globe to celebrate and honor all nurses and their associations.

The week of celebrations at Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust is a testament to the dedication and hard work of their nursing staff, showing appreciation for the vital role they play in healthcare.
