Man who Escaped Philadelphia Police Custody Captured in Northern Liberties
Philadelphia police had quite the chase on their hands as they searched for Nafiysh Knox-Schenck, a man who had escaped custody earlier this week. Knox-Schenck, who was arrested for a firearm violation on Monday, managed to flee from police after someone opened the door of the patrol car he was handcuffed in.
After a city-wide search, U.S. Marshals were able to track down Knox-Schenck in the Northern Liberties neighborhood on Wednesday morning. Following a surveillance operation at a condominium complex, the marshals were able to locate him and he surrendered without incident.
“Our fugitive task force has the most experience in the country apprehending escapees and the Marshals Service will always support law enforcement agencies who need violent criminals brought back into custody,” said Robert Clark, the Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal for the Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force.
Knox-Schenck, 32, is now back in custody facing additional charges for his escape. This dramatic capture serves as a reminder of the dedication and skill of law enforcement in ensuring that fugitives are brought to justice.
