Zoo Atlanta’s Last 4 Pandas Departing for China: U.S. News & World Report Coverage
In a bittersweet announcement, Zoo Atlanta revealed that their last four giant pandas will be leaving for China. The beloved pandas, Lun Lun, Yang Yang, Xi Lun, and Ya Lun, have called the zoo home for many years, captivating visitors with their playful antics and adorable faces.
The decision to send the pandas back to their native country was made in collaboration with the China Wildlife Conservation Association, as part of a breeding program aimed at increasing the endangered species’ population. Despite the sadness of saying goodbye, zoo officials expressed excitement at the prospect of the pandas potentially contributing to the conservation efforts in China.
“We are incredibly grateful for the time we have had with these amazing animals,” said Raymond B. King, President and CEO of Zoo Atlanta. “While we will miss them dearly, we are proud to have played a role in their care and conservation.”
The pandas will be departing for China in the coming months, but Zoo Atlanta has promised to continue their conservation efforts and hopes to welcome more pandas in the future. Visitors are encouraged to come say goodbye to Lun Lun, Yang Yang, Xi Lun, and Ya Lun before they embark on their journey to their homeland.
