Soap Box Derby World Championships: Mahoning Valley competitors excel at 86th annual event

The Soap Box Derby World Championships in Akron over the weekend were a thrilling event for three young champions from the Mahoning Valley. Emmalynn Esmail, Parker Lame, and Morgan Brammer represented their hometowns in hopes of securing a world title.

Parker Lame, the reigning Super Stock Division world champion, returned to the track this year to compete in the Masters Division. Despite the tougher competition, Parker managed to secure an impressive eighth-place finish in the world. His dedication to the sport and skillful driving were evident throughout the competition.

Local adviser and coach Dennis Tomory was proud of all three competitors’ performances. While Parker stood out with his remarkable finish, Morgan Brammer also showcased her talent by defeating Super Stock champions from other regions. Emmalynn Esmail, though not advancing as far as her peers, demonstrated determination and sportsmanship on the track.

The event was a testament to the young racers’ passion for Soap Box Derby racing and their commitment to representing their communities on a global stage. Congratulations to all the participants for their hard work and dedication to the sport.
