US Men’s Basketball Team Escapes South Sudan Upset Despite 45-point Favouritism

Team USA Escapes Close Call Against South Sudan in Pre-Olympics Exhibition

The U.S. men’s basketball team narrowly avoided a shocking upset in a pre-Olympics exhibition against South Sudan in London on Saturday night. The Americans managed to secure a 101-100 victory, thanks to a late-game heroics by LeBron James.

With less than 15 seconds remaining in the game and the U.S. down by one point, James made a crucial drive to the basket, putting them back in the lead. On the defensive end, Anthony Davis stepped up, jumping high enough to alter Carlik Jones’ shot and ultimately force a miss.

The game started in favor of Team USA, but after South Sudan called a timeout, the momentum shifted. Jones led his team to a 14-point halftime lead, causing some concern for the Americans. However, after regrouping during halftime, the U.S. slowed down the game and started capitalizing on inside plays with Davis and Joel Embiid.

Despite being favored by a large margin, the U.S. team struggled with their 3-point shooting and rebounding. James finished with 23 points, six rebounds, and six assists, while Davis contributed 15 points and 11 rebounds. On the other side, Jones recorded a triple-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists for South Sudan.

Team USA will have one more warmup game against Germany before heading to Paris for the Olympics. Fans can expect an exciting journey as the American team aims for gold in the upcoming competition.
