**University of Kentucky’s Chandler Hospital Named No. 1 in Kentucky for Ninth Consecutive Year**
The University of Kentucky’s Albert B. Chandler Hospital at UK HealthCare has once again been crowned as the best hospital in Kentucky, marking its ninth consecutive year at the top of the list. The prestigious ranking was bestowed upon the hospital by the 2024-25 Best Hospitals rankings and ratings from U.S. News & World Report.
In addition to being named the No. 1 hospital in the state, UK HealthCare was also recognized for excelling in three specialty areas, with improved rankings in each: cancer care (#36), ear, nose & throat (#37), and OB/GYN (#21). Furthermore, the hospital received a “High Performing” designation in six specialties, including Gastroenterology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, and Urology, among others.
Dr. Robert S. DiPaola, UK’s co-executive vice president for health affairs, emphasized the hospital’s commitment to delivering superior care, conducting innovative research, and providing heartfelt service to its patients. Dr. Eric N. Monday, UK’s co-executive vice president for health affairs, highlighted the institution’s mission to elevate the standard of health care throughout the state.
Notably, UK Chandler Hospital was honored as the Best Regional Hospital for Equitable Access, recognizing its efforts in caring for patients in historically underserved communities. This recognition underscores UK HealthCare’s dedication to ensuring quality for all patients, regardless of background.
The UK Markey Cancer Center, the only center in Kentucky with a National Cancer Institute designation, was also recognized in the rankings, climbing to #36 this year. Additionally, the UK Women’s Health OB-GYN department improved its ranking to #21, focusing on providing top-notch obstetric and gynecologic services to patients across the state.
The Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, also known as Ear, Nose & Throat, boasted a significant improvement in its ranking, moving up to #37 this year. The department’s comprehensive range of specialties ensures that complex cases are handled with precision and compassion.
Overall, UK HealthCare received 14 “High Performing” designations for common adult procedures and conditions, setting a new record for the institution. Three other hospitals in the UK HealthCare network – UK King’s Daughters, UK St. Claire, and Kentucky Children’s Hospital – also received recognition from U.S. News.
