Travis Kelce Embraces Being Booed at Dallas Mavericks Game: ‘I’m Just an Innocent Bystander’

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is taking his newfound level of fame in stride, even when it comes to being booed at a recent Dallas Mavericks game. Joined by teammate Patrick Mahomes, Kelce found himself on the receiving end of some not-so-friendly reactions from fans in the stadium.

During a recent episode of “New Heights,” Kelce, 34, joked about the “interesting reception” he received at the game, where he got booed not once, but twice. “It’s whatever,” Kelce teased, adding, “I get it. I’m not from Dallas. I’m just kind of like an innocent bystander.”

Despite the mixed reactions, Kelce and Mahomes, 28, were seen enjoying themselves at the NBA Playoffs, sitting courtside at the American Airlines Center in Texas. The duo, along with Mahomes’ wife Brittany, even got featured on the Jumbotron, prompting the crowd to boo when Kelce’s face appeared.

In a video shared on social media, Kelce can be seen laughing and clapping before Mahomes, a Texas native, stole the spotlight and received a roaring applause from the audience.

Kelce later explained the awkward interaction on the podcast, sharing, “They throw the name underneath and try to specify who they’re showing. They showed me. I got caught off guard because I was trying to take a selfie with some people around me, and then Pat kind of, like, taps me. I was like, ‘What’s up? Oh s—t, I’m on the Jumbotron!’ Then I heard all the boos and I’m like, ‘Oh s—t, I’m getting booed! Alright, nice. … Appreciate the warm welcome.'”

Despite the boos, Kelce and his friends had a blast at the game, as they also attended the NHL Western Conference Final the day before, cheering on the Dallas Stars as they beat the Edmonton Oilers.

Beyond his sports appearances, Kelce has been a busy bee during the NFL offseason. From filming new shows to supporting girlfriend Taylor Swift on her international tour, Kelce’s schedule is packed with exciting ventures. According to a source, Kelce is determined to support Swift as much as he can and will be traveling back and forth between the U.S. and Europe to be with her.
