Asda Completes Roll-Out of New NCR Point of Sale Software Across UK Stores

Asda, the UK grocery giant, has successfully completed the roll-out of new NCR Point of Sale (PoS) software across its entire store estate. This ambitious project, which involved updating 16,674 checkouts, 6,211 physical installs, and 27,888 scan and go devices, was a massive cross-functional effort that mobilized across 612 stores.

Kevin Besford, Senior Director of Retail Future at Asda, expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in the project, stating, “This commitment is driving us forward as we continue to build our brand new Asda digital landscape.” He also praised the hard work of all the store colleagues who continued to serve customers during this time of change.

The deployment of the new software peaked at 42 stores per week, with over 30,000 colleagues receiving training on the updated system. The collaboration between the Retail, Tech, and NCR teams was highlighted as essential in achieving this significant milestone.
