The United States Army Field Band is gearing up for an exciting international outreach mission to perform at two prestigious military music events: the Basel Tattoo in Switzerland and the Hamina Tattoo in Finland. This mission aims to strengthen diplomatic and cultural ties with international partners and allies through the universal language of music.
The Basel Tattoo, known for its spectacular displays and international participation, will host the Field Band along with military bands from over 20 countries including the United Kingdom, Singapore, Australia, Switzerland, Turkey, and Finland. The event is expected to draw over 100,000 attendees and will feature intricate marching formations, dazzling light displays, and a grand finale collaboration among all the participating bands.
Following their performances in Switzerland, the United States Army Field Band will head to the Hamina Tattoo in Finland, where they will join military bands from Sweden, France, Belgium, and Norway. The event, set in the historic fortress town of Hamina, is known for its celebration of military music and international camaraderie, drawing tens of thousands of spectators.
Lieutenant Colonel Domingos Robinson, commander and conductor of the Field Band, emphasized the importance of these performances in representing the excellence and professionalism of the United States Army. The band’s participation in the Hamina Tattoo holds particular significance as it symbolizes support for Finland, one of the newest NATO members, and aims to strengthen relationships with allies through music.
The United States Army Field Band’s repertoire for these events includes American patriotic music, classical pieces, and contemporary arrangements, showcasing their versatility and musical excellence to international audiences. As they embark on this mission, the musicians carry a message of friendship and solidarity, promoting partnership and cooperation with nations around the world.
