The Cast of Wicked Shares Their Opinions on Fans Singing in the Movie Theater – Us Weekly

“The Wicked Cast Weighs In: Should Fans Sing Along in the Movie Theater?”

The Wicked cast is buzzing with excitement as they gear up for the highly anticipated release of the film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. But amidst all the hype, one burning question remains – should fans be allowed to sing along in the movie theater?

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, members of the Wicked cast weighed in on this hotly debated topic. Tony Award-winning actress Idina Menzel, who originated the role of Elphaba in the Broadway production, shared her thoughts on the matter.

“I think it’s great when fans are so passionate about the show that they want to sing along,” Menzel said. “It shows how much the music resonates with them and how much they love the story we’re telling. As long as they’re not disrupting other moviegoers, I say go for it!”

Her co-star Kristin Chenoweth, who played Glinda in the original Broadway production, echoed Menzel’s sentiments. “The energy and enthusiasm of the fans is what makes Wicked so special,” Chenoweth said. “If singing along enhances their movie-going experience, then I say why not? Just remember to be respectful of those around you.”

However, not all members of the cast are on board with the idea of fans singing in the theater. Broadway veteran Joel Grey, who plays the Wizard in the film adaptation, expressed some reservations.

“I think it’s important for fans to remember that the actors on screen are giving a live performance, even if it’s pre-recorded,” Grey said. “Singing along can be distracting and take away from the immersive experience of watching the movie. I would encourage fans to show their appreciation in other ways, like clapping or cheering at the end.”

With opinions divided among the cast members, it remains to be seen whether fans will heed their advice when the film hits theaters. One thing is for certain – the Wicked cast is grateful for the unwavering support of their dedicated fan base, whether they choose to sing along or not.
