“Jakob Silfverberg scores in SHL return but falls short: ‘We woke up a little too late'” – The Hockey News
In an emotional return to the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), Jakob Silfverberg scored a goal but ultimately fell short as his team, Brynäs IF, lost to Skellefteå AIK. Despite the defeat, Silfverberg remained optimistic, citing a slow start as the reason for their downfall.
“We woke up a little too late,” Silfverberg admitted after the game. “We didn’t come out strong in the first period and it cost us in the end. But I’m proud of the effort we put in to try and come back.”
Silfverberg, who had spent the past few seasons playing in the NHL for the Anaheim Ducks and Ottawa Senators, returned to the SHL during the ongoing NHL lockout. The 30-year-old forward made an immediate impact in his first game back, scoring a goal to help his team try to mount a comeback.
Despite the loss, Silfverberg’s presence on the ice was a welcome sight for Brynäs IF fans, who were excited to see their former star player back in action. Silfverberg’s experience and leadership were evident throughout the game, as he tried to rally his teammates and spark a late-game surge.
While the result may not have been what Silfverberg had hoped for in his SHL return, the veteran forward remains determined to help his team bounce back in their next game.
“We have to learn from this and come out stronger next time,” Silfverberg said. “We have a talented group of players here, and I believe we can turn things around. It’s just a matter of staying focused and playing our game.”
As Silfverberg continues to adjust to life back in the SHL, fans can expect to see more impressive performances from the seasoned forward as he looks to lead Brynäs IF to victory in the coming games.
