Sassuolo manager Roberto De Zerbi downplays title chances as PSG and Monaco lead the way – Yahoo Sports
Sassuolo manager Roberto De Zerbi has dismissed talk of his team challenging for the Serie A title, insisting that Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco are ahead of them.
Speaking to Yahoo Sports, De Zerbi was realistic about Sassuolo’s chances in the league this season. “We are a good team, but we need to be honest with ourselves. PSG and Monaco have more resources and are currently ahead of us in terms of quality and depth,” he said.
Despite currently sitting in a respectable position in the Serie A table, De Zerbi believes that his team still has a long way to go before they can be considered title contenders. “We need to take it one game at a time and focus on improving as a team. The title talk is premature at this stage,” he added.
Sassuolo have been impressive so far this season, with standout performances from players like Domenico Berardi and Manuel Locatelli. However, De Zerbi is aware that there is still room for improvement if they are to challenge the likes of PSG and Monaco for the title.
As the season progresses, Sassuolo will be looking to continue their good form and push for a European qualification spot. But for now, De Zerbi is keeping his feet firmly on the ground and focusing on the task at hand.
