Prime Minister Christopher Luxon concluded his four-day visit to the United States with a series of meetings in California, with a strong emphasis on innovation and investment. Luxon highlighted the deepening ties between New Zealand and California, particularly in the areas of green technology, geothermal energy, and aerospace.

During his time in San Francisco, Luxon met with California Governor Gavin Newsom to discuss opportunities for collaboration in clean energy. The two leaders committed to working together on projects related to geothermal energy, offshore wind, and transport decarbonisation.

Luxon also took the opportunity to promote investment opportunities in New Zealand to venture capitalists in the Bay Area. He visited the NASA Ames Research Center and Apple Park, where he saw firsthand the potential for high-tech job creation in New Zealand through partnerships with innovative companies.

Furthermore, Luxon announced that New Zealand will be launching a bilateral technology dialogue with the US later this year, further solidifying the partnership between the two countries in the area of technology and innovation.

The Prime Minister also attended NATO meetings in Washington DC, where he reiterated New Zealand’s commitment to upholding the liberal rules-based order and supporting Ukraine in the face of Russia’s illegal invasion.
