Punjab Kings Coach Sanjay Bangar Rues Below-par IPL Season, Home Matches Costly
Punjab Kings head coach, Sanjay Bangar, expressed his disappointment over the team’s below-par performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this season, attributing their struggles to their poor record in home matches. The team managed to win just one out of their seven home matches, ultimately finishing ninth out of 10 teams in the highly competitive T20 tournament.
Bangar highlighted the team’s inability to adapt to home conditions as a major factor in their lackluster season. He pointed out that while they had a decent record in away matches, their poor performances at home ultimately cost them crucial points in the tournament.
Despite the overall disappointing season, Bangar pointed out some positives, particularly the impressive performances of domestic batsmen like Prabhsimran Singh, Shashank Singh, and Ashutosh Sharma. He also acknowledged the impact of losing key players like Liam Livingstone and Kagiso Rabada due to injuries and other commitments.
Looking back at their last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Bangar noted that their inability to contain the opposition’s batters and leaking runs in the powerplay were key factors in their defeat. He emphasized the need for better bowling performances and tighter fielding in future matches.
Overall, while acknowledging the challenges faced by the team this season, Bangar remains optimistic about the team’s prospects in the future and is hopeful for a better showing in the upcoming seasons.
