Zerodha CEO Nithin Kamath urges Indians to question food choices: ‘Slowly killing us’
Zerodha CEO Nithin Kamath Raises Concerns About Food Quality in India
Nithin Kamath, the CEO of Zerodha, recently took to social media to raise awareness about the quality of food consumed by Indians. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Kamath emphasized the importance of questioning the ingredients in our food and making informed choices.
“We Indians need to question what goes into the food we consume. The more we ask, the better choices we will have. The sugar content in most of our food is ridiculous,” Kamath wrote.
He also highlighted issues such as adulteration in food items like masalas, milk, and protein, as well as substandard chemicals used in food coloring and preservatives in fruits and vegetables. According to Kamath, these factors are slowly harming individuals, whether they are consuming packaged foods or dining out at restaurants.
This discussion comes in light of potential new guidelines that could impact branded products, including soft drinks, juices, cookies, ice creams, and cereals, to address excessive sugar content. Reports have surfaced regarding high sugar levels in popular food items like infant food Cerelac and the malted drink Bournvita.
Kamath’s call to action serves as a reminder for all individuals to be more mindful of their food choices and to advocate for transparency in the food industry. By questioning and educating themselves about the ingredients in their meals, consumers can make healthier and more informed decisions.
