Top Graduate Programs at University of Kansas Medical Center Recognized in U.S. News & World Report Rankings 2024

The University of Kansas Medical Center has once again showcased its excellence in graduate education with several of its programs being recognized as top in the country in U.S. News & World Report’s rankings for 2024. The programs, spread across the three schools of KU Medical Center – the School of Health Professions, the School of Medicine, and the School of Nursing, have received high praise for their quality and impact.

KU School of Medicine, in particular, stood out for its commitment to primary care, being named one of the best schools in this field. Placing in Tier 1 for primary care among both public and private schools, KU School of Medicine ranked in the top 15 schools for primary care. This achievement is in line with the school’s previous ranking as No. 14 in the 2023 report.

Aside from primary care, the School of Medicine also excelled in other practice areas, ranking 10th in graduates practicing in health professional shortage areas, 12th in graduates providing direct patient care in rural areas, and 35th in graduates practicing in primary care.

Meanwhile, the School of Health Professions boasted impressive rankings as well. The speech-language pathology program placed 6th among public schools and 9th overall, while the occupational therapy program ranked 11th among public institutions. Additionally, the physical therapy program ranked 5th in the country among public schools, highlighting KU’s strong presence in healthcare education.

Not to be outdone, the School of Nursing also saw significant improvements in its rankings. The nurse-midwifery program jumped from 21st to 8th place overall and from 11th to 7th for public schools since the last rankings in 2020. The nurse-anesthesia program also climbed the ranks, now ranking 10th among public schools.

Overall, the University of Kansas Medical Center’s programs continue to be recognized for their excellence and dedication to producing top-tier healthcare professionals. The faculty and staff’s commitment to educating the next generation of healthcare providers is evident in these impressive rankings, solidifying KU’s reputation as a leader in medical education.
