Kennedy announces ban on artificial dyes in food and drinks

The U.S. government, led by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has announced a ban on eight artificial food dyes commonly used in products such as cereals and candies, citing concerns over their links to neurological issues in children. The phased ban will see two dyes removed shortly and the rest by the end of 2026. The FDA will introduce four natural alternatives to assist companies in transitioning away from synthetic dyes. Kennedy stressed the importance of transparency in food ingredients and aims to address other food additives in the future. The move is part of a broader trend, as some states have already implemented similar bans. Critics argue that while the safety of these dyes remains debatable, enough concerns exist to justify their removal from the food supply.
