Heading: Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run Brings Message of Peace to Edmonds
The Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run brought its message of peace to Edmonds on Friday, as a team of international runners carried the torch through the city. Council President Vivian Olson kickstarted the Edmonds leg by carrying the torch from the Ace Hardware parking lot to Civic Park. The runners then visited the Edmonds Boys and Girls Club, where they engaged with children through educational presentations promoting self-esteem and unity.
The Peace Run, which has been running for over 35 years and has traveled through 160 nations worldwide, aims to symbolize humanity’s universal desire for a more peaceful world. The initiative has garnered support from notable figures such as Pope Francis, President Nelson Mandela, and Mother Teresa. Inspired by Sri Chinmoy, the Peace Run embodies the belief that peace is not achieved by mere discussion but through active participation and engagement.
The event in Edmonds showcased the power of unity and harmony, with participants taking part in activities aimed at broadening perspectives and promoting a shared vision of peace. As the torch continues its journey to Victoria, Canada, the Peace Run serves as a reminder of the collective effort needed to build a more peaceful and harmonious world.
