Young-Indian Cricket Team Under VVS Laxman Leaves for Zimbabwe T20I Series
Young Indian Cricket Team Under National Cricket Academy Head VVS Laxman Sets Off for Zimbabwe T20I Series
A young Indian cricket team, led by Shubman Gill, has departed for Zimbabwe to participate in a five-match T20I series starting on July 6 in Harare. The squad includes talented youngsters like Riyan Parag and Abhishek Sharma, who have been rewarded for their outstanding performances in the previous IPL season with their first call-ups to the Indian team.
Skipper Shubman Gill, who served as the reserve opener during the T20 World Cup, took a break before joining the rest of the squad in Harare directly from the US. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared images of the players boarding the flight, which also featured Ruturaj Gaikwad, Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar, Tushar Deshpande, and NCA head VVS Laxman.
However, five members of the squad, including Shivam Dube, Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, and Khaleel Ahmed, who were either part of the T20 World Cup-winning team or travelling reserves, are currently stranded in Barbados due to hurricane Beryl. They are expected to join the team later.
With the recent retirements of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja from the shortest format of the game, the T20 series against Zimbabwe presents an excellent opportunity for the young players to establish themselves in the national team for upcoming series.
The Indian squad for the T20I series against Zimbabwe includes Shubman Gill (Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Shivam Dube, Riyan Parag, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, and Tushar Deshpande.
The cricketing world will be eagerly watching to see how these promising young talents perform in the upcoming series against Zimbabwe.
