Denver celebrates new non-stop flight to Dublin with Aer Lingus
Denver Mayor Mike Johnston joined city officials and business representatives in celebrating the opening of Denver International Airport’s gate for Denver’s first non-stop flight to Dublin with Aer Lingus, Ireland’s national airline. The inaugural flight marks a significant milestone in strengthening ties between Colorado and Ireland.
Aer Lingus, the 25th airline partner at Denver International Airport, will operate four flights per week to Dublin. The airport and city officials view this new service as an opportunity to enhance both commercial and cultural relationships between Denver and Dublin.
“Our delegation had the opportunity to strengthen ties between Denver and Dublin, which will directly support tourism and businesses in both cities,” Mayor Johnston stated. The first passengers to Dublin were treated to a celebratory sendoff, with representatives from various organizations present to mark the occasion.
Aer Lingus Chief Customer Officer Susanne Carberry expressed excitement about the new route, highlighting the convenience of connections from Dublin Airport to top European destinations. Passengers can expect a warm Irish welcome onboard, along with excellent amenities and entertainment options.
While the exact cost of the trip for Denver taxpayers has yet to be finalized, officials are optimistic about the economic impact of the new service. Mayor Johnston predicted a $65 million annual boost to the state economy, with the potential creation of 400 new jobs and increased wages.
Despite recent declines in passenger numbers, DIA CEO Phil Washington remains confident in the airport’s future. He praised Aer Lingus for their investment in the Denver market and emphasized the importance of expanding global connections for Denver’s growth as a global city.
The non-stop flight to Dublin is the latest addition to DIA’s expanding international service, with plans for more destinations in the pipeline. The partnership with Aer Lingus opens up new possibilities for travelers and businesses looking to connect with Ireland and beyond.
