Israeli Settlers Attack Foreign Volunteers in West Bank, Injuring Some

Title: Israeli Settlers Attack Foreign Volunteers in West Bank

In a shocking incident on Sunday, Israeli settlers targeted a group of foreign volunteers who were assisting Palestinian farmers in the occupied West Bank. The attack resulted in injuries to some volunteers, who required hospital treatment, as confirmed by the activists and the Israeli army.

The volunteers, mainly from America, were working alongside farmers in an olive grove near the Palestinian village of Qusra when the settlers launched the violent assault. David Hummel, an American-German in the group, recounted the terrifying experience of being pushed, attacked with sticks and metal pipes, and pelted with rocks by the aggressive settlers.

This disturbing incident highlights the escalating tensions in the region since the outbreak of the Gaza war on October 7. The situation has been further exacerbated by a recent ruling from the International Court of Justice declaring Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories since 1967 as illegal.

The volunteers belong to the International Solidarity Movement, a group dedicated to providing a “protective presence” for Palestinians facing violence in the West Bank. Following the attack, several activists, including two women, received medical treatment at Rafidia hospital in Nablus.

Israeli troops intervened by firing warning shots to disperse the attackers and protect the volunteers and farmers. The Israeli army condemned the violence, attributing the assault to “masked Israeli civilians.”

The volunteers had been in Qusra for about a month, assisting the farmers in clearing land that had been previously burned by settlers. Despite the risks they face, the ISM volunteers remain committed to resisting the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land.

This incident underscores the ongoing conflict in the region, with casualties on both sides. The need for international intervention and support for peaceful initiatives like the ISM is critical to promoting stability and justice in the West Bank.
