Florida Mom Charged with Inciting 500-Person Riot at Skating Rink
“Florida Mom Charged with Inciting 500-Person Riot at Skating Rink Over Canceled Birthday Party”
A Florida mom is facing serious charges after allegedly inciting a riot at a skating rink with over 500 people involved. Stephanie Pedroso, 36, was arrested for her role in sparking chaos at Astro Skate in Brandon after her daughter’s birthday party was canceled.
The incident occurred after Pedroso made a reservation for an “after hours birthday party” for her daughter on May 17. However, the rink canceled the booking due to a breach of contract when Pedroso failed to secure off-duty deputies for security as agreed upon.
Despite being issued a refund, Pedroso took to social media to urge her daughter’s friends to show up at the rink anyway and cause havoc. This resulted in a large crowd gathering at the rink on May 18, leading to fights, property damage, and disruptions to nearby businesses.
Police responded to calls of a 500-person crowd causing chaos at the rink, with several fights breaking out and one individual being thrown through a window at a nearby barbershop. In total, 23 minors and three adults were arrested at the scene.
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister condemned the incident, stating that using social media to incite violence and destroy businesses is unacceptable. Pedroso has been charged with inciting a riot, unlawful use of a two-way communication device, and driving with a revoked license.
As the community grapples with the aftermath of the riot, authorities are emphasizing the importance of responsible behavior and the consequences of inciting violence. Pedroso has been released on bond, with a court date yet to be scheduled.
