Despicable Me 4 Becomes Second Highest-Grossing Film of 2024 in North America
Despicable Me 4 has officially taken the box office by storm, surpassing Dune 2 to claim the title of the second highest-grossing film of 2024 in North America. Despite facing stiff competition from multiple releases, the animated feature has managed to hold its ground and achieve a remarkable feat.
With a domestic haul of $291.4 million, Despicable Me 4 has outperformed Dune 2’s $282.1 million run in the United States. This success has catapulted the franchise to become the highest-grossing animated film franchise, setting the stage for even greater milestones in the future.
Trade analyst Luiz Fernando reports that Despicable Me 4 raked in a strong $14.6 million on its fourth weekend, experiencing only a 40.2% drop despite the release of other big films like Deadpool & Wolverine. The movie is expected to cross the $300 million mark in the US this week and has set its sights on a $355 million-$375 million run in North America.
Not only is Despicable Me 4 dominating the domestic market, but it is also performing exceptionally well in international territories, grossing $387.94 million. When combined with its domestic earnings, the global collection stands at an impressive $679.31 million. The movie, which was released on July 3, is well on its way to achieving even greater success on the big screen.
