CBS Sports Secures Multi-Year Deal for US Broadcasting Rights with EFL

Exciting Partnership: CBS Sports to Broadcast EFL Matches in the United States

CBS Sports has secured a groundbreaking deal to broadcast over 250 matches each season from the English Football League (EFL) in the United States. This partnership, set to begin at the start of the upcoming campaign in August and extend until the end of the 2027/28 season, marks a significant milestone for football fans across North America.

EFL chief executive Trevor Birch expressed his excitement about the new agreement, highlighting the growing interest in football in the North American markets. With the EFL already reaching a global audience of 400 million across 182 territories, the addition of CBS Sports as a broadcasting partner opens up the thrilling and competitive world of EFL competitions to American viewers.

CBS Sports’ coverage will include a total of 155 Championship matches, as well as 38 League One and League Two matches, 30 Carabao Cup ties, three Bristol Street Motors Trophy matches, and all 15 play-off ties. Additionally, EFL clubs will have the opportunity to stream remaining fixtures for international fans through their own platforms.

While the opening weekend coverage has been confirmed, some matches, such as Bolton’s trip to Leyton Orient, may not be broadcast live in the US. However, CBS Sports assures fans that additional matches and studio coverage will be announced in the coming weeks, with EFL analysis and commentary to be featured on the Sports Golazo network.

Dan Weinberg, from CBS Sports, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “With the EFL’s compelling storylines and growing popularity coupled with our first-class coverage, we look forward to further elevating this league in the U.S.” Football enthusiasts in the United States can look forward to immersive and comprehensive coverage of EFL matches, showcasing the excitement, tradition, and competitiveness of English football.
