UPDATE: American Legion Sanibel-Captiva Islander Newsletter
The American Legion Post 123 on Sanibel Island is gearing up for an exciting new chapter as they welcome a new commander to lead the organization. The Sanibel-Captiva Islander recently sat down with Commander John Smith to discuss his plans for the future of the post and how he hopes to engage the community in their important work.
Commander Smith brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served in the military for over 20 years. He is passionate about supporting veterans and their families and is dedicated to ensuring that the American Legion remains a vital part of the Sanibel Island community.
Under Commander Smith’s leadership, the American Legion Post 123 is planning a series of events and programs aimed at honoring and supporting veterans. They will be hosting a Veterans Day ceremony in November, as well as a charity fundraiser to benefit local veterans in need.
In addition to their community outreach efforts, Commander Smith is also focused on ensuring that the American Legion remains a welcoming and inclusive space for all veterans. He is working to expand the post’s membership and reach out to younger veterans who may not be aware of the resources and support available to them through the American Legion.
The Sanibel-Captiva Islander will continue to follow Commander Smith and the American Legion Post 123 as they work to make a difference in the lives of veterans on Sanibel Island. Stay tuned for updates on their upcoming events and initiatives.
