Family confirms that Golfer Grayson Murray died by suicide

Pro Golfer Grayson Murray Confirmed Dead by Suicide: Family Shares Heartbreaking Statement

Pro golfer Grayson Murray’s family confirmed on Sunday that he died by suicide at the age of 30, just a day after he withdrew from the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas. The news of his death has sent shockwaves through the sports community.

Murray, a two-time PGA Tour winner, had gained full status on the PGA Tour in 2017 and went on to win the Barbasol Championship that year at the age of 23. He also had two wins on the Korn Ferry Tour last year and scored a victory at the Sony Open in Hawaii earlier this year.

Despite his success on the course, Murray had been open about his struggles with alcoholism and mental health issues. In a news conference after winning the Sony Open, he shared his battles with anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, which he attributed to his past alcohol use.

Murray’s parents, Eric and Terry Murray, released a statement expressing their grief and asking the question, “Was Grayson loved? The answer is yes.” They also acknowledged that their son’s life had not been easy, but they believe he now rests peacefully.

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan also expressed his devastation over Murray’s death, calling the PGA Tour a family and mourning the loss of one of its members. Grief counselors will be available at upcoming PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour events to support players and staff.
