The 2024 edition of the Indianapolis 500, one of the most prestigious events in the motorsport calendar, has been marred by extreme weather. Race organizers were forced to pause pre-race festivities, evacuate fans from the grandstands, and postpone the start of the race due to the proximity of lightning moving towards the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Despite the setbacks, the 108th running of the iconic race is set to take place on Sunday, May 26. A talented field of 33 drivers will compete in the ultimate test of speed and stamina, navigating 200 laps and 500 miles around the oval track at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

One team, Team Penske, has achieved a remarkable feat by locking out the entire front row of the grid. Scott McLaughlin secured pole position with an impressive average speed of 234.220 mph, followed by Will Power and Josef Newgarden.

Notably, Kyle Larson will attempt a challenging feat by participating in both the Indy 500 and NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600 on the same day. Larson, the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion, will look to make his mark in the IndyCar race as a rookie.

Veteran driver Hélio Castroneves, aiming to secure his fifth Indy 500 victory, will also be one to watch as he seeks to make history at the Brickyard.

The race promises to deliver thrilling action and historic moments, with fans around the world eagerly awaiting the return of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”
