Neon: The Tiny US Studio That Continues to Dominate the Palme d’Or Award in Hollywood

NEON: The Tiny US Studio Winning the Palme d’Or for the 5th Consecutive Time

NEON, the tiny US studio, has made waves in the film industry by winning the prestigious Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival for the fifth consecutive time. Known for backing unique and original films, NEON has successfully released Parasite, Titane, Triangle of Sadness, Anatomy of a Fall, and Anora, all of which went on to win the coveted award.

Founded by Tom Quinn and Tim League, NEON made its mark in 2017 with the release of Anne Hathaway-starrer Colossal. The following year, their success continued with I, Tonya, which won Allison Janney the Best Supporting Actress Oscar. NEON is known for tapping into fresh voices and amplifying original and unconventional stories.

Cannes has proven to be a lucrative platform for NEON, as they have acquired successful films from the festival before their release. Parasite, in particular, was a massive success for NEON, grossing $263 million worldwide and becoming the first non-English language film to win the Best Picture Oscar.

NEON’s Chief Marketing Officer, Christian Parkes, highlighted their marketing strategy for Parasite, comparing it to the suspenseful storytelling of Hitchcock and William Castle. With Anora’s recent Palme d’Or win, all eyes are on NEON to see if they can replicate their success once again.

Jeff Deutchman, speaking about NEON’s approach to film acquisition, emphasized the importance of unique and compelling stories that draw audiences to the cinema. With NEON’s track record of success at Cannes, the industry is eager to see what groundbreaking films they will bring to the screen next.
