“India Advises Nationals to Stay Indoors in Kyrgyzstan Amid Mob Violence”

In a shocking turn of events, reports of large-scale mob violence targeting foreign students in the capital city of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan have prompted the Indian mission in the country to issue a cautionary advisory to its nationals. The Indian mission has advised its students to stay indoors “for the moment” as a safety precaution.

“We are in touch with our students. The situation is presently calm but students are advised to stay indoors for the moment and get in touch with the Embassy in case of any issue. Our 24×7 contact number is 0555710041,” India in Kyrgyz Republic stated in a post.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar assured that he is closely monitoring the welfare of Indian students in Bishkek, stressing the importance of staying in regular touch with the Embassy during such times.

Meanwhile, several Pakistani students studying in Bishkek reportedly faced mob violence, sustaining injuries in the process. However, no confirmed deaths have been reported. The violence is said to have followed a brawl between foreign students, including Pakistanis, and Egyptian nationals.

In response to the situation, Pakistan’s Ambassador in the country, Hasan Zaigham, urged Pakistani students to remain indoors and assured cooperation with local authorities to ensure their safety. There have been no confirmed reports of deaths or rapes of Pakistani students in the incidents.

Expressing deep concern over the situation, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the Ambassador to provide all necessary help and assistance to the affected students. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, also emphasized the need to ensure the protection of Pakistani students and instructed the Ambassador to fully facilitate them.

The situation remains fluid and both Indian and Pakistani officials are closely monitoring the developments in Bishkek to ensure the safety and security of their respective nationals. As tensions continue to simmer, it is crucial for all foreign students in the region to exercise caution and follow the guidance of their respective embassies.
