Gecko Robotics: Revolutionizing Infrastructure Inspections with Wall-Climbing Robots

Gecko Robotics revolutionizes infrastructure inspections with wall-climbing robots

US-based Gecko Robotics is shaking up the world of infrastructure inspections with its innovative wall-climbing robots. These bots, known as Cantilever, are not only capable of identifying existing issues but also predicting potential problems that could arise in the future.

In a video showcasing the robots in action, Gecko Robotics CEO and Co-founder, Jake Loosararian, highlights the capabilities of the Cantilever robots. According to Loosararian, these robots can gather crucial health data on physical assets and critical infrastructure such as power plants, military equipment, and manufacturing facilities.

Traditionally, inspections of these assets involve workers collecting thousands of readings manually. However, Gecko Robotics’ technology can collect over 20 million data points in a fraction of the time, providing a comprehensive analysis similar to a CAT scan of a human body.

The digital twins created by Gecko robots not only streamline the inspection process but also aid in the planning and development of future projects, ultimately saving time, resources, and capital. In an interview with CNBC, Loosararian emphasized the importance of improving infrastructure in the US, which currently has a D rating and faces a $4 trillion to $6 trillion problem in upgrading to a B rating.

Gecko Robotics’ technology has already been deployed to monitor 500,000 critical assets worldwide, including oil and gas facilities, pipelines, boilers, and tanks. Additionally, the US military has also recognized the value of Gecko’s robots, with the US Air Force contracting the company to assist in maintaining missile silos and the US Navy utilizing the technology to overhaul its Columbia-class nuclear submarine program.

Overall, Gecko Robotics’ wall-climbing robots are revolutionizing the way infrastructure inspections are conducted, offering a more efficient, accurate, and cost-effective solution for ensuring the safety and integrity of critical assets.
