Harry Connick Jr. Claims Sigourney Weaver Was Silent on Copycat Set

Harry Connick Jr. Reveals Sigourney Weaver Wouldn’t Talk to Him on the Set of ‘Copycat’

Harry Connick Jr. recently revealed on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham that his co-star in the film Copycat, Sigourney Weaver, didn’t speak to him on set back in 1995. Connick, who was promoting his latest movie Find Me Falling, shared that Weaver avoided interacting with him and only met him for the first time at the movie’s premiere.

In the crime thriller Copycat, Connick played the role of serial killer Daryll Lee Cullum, while Weaver starred as psychologist Dr. Helen Hudson. Despite their characters’ on-screen interactions, Connick and Weaver had minimal off-screen communication during filming. The film, directed by Jon Amiel, also featured Holly Hunter and Dermot Mulroney as detectives trying to track down the killer.

Connick recalled that Copycat was his first major role as a young actor after facing several rejections at auditions. He even contemplated taking a break from acting before landing the role of Cullum in the film. The singer-turned-actor shared his audition experience, where Amiel questioned him about serial killers and took an interest in his New Orleans accent, ultimately leading to him getting the part.

Despite the lack of communication with Weaver during filming, Connick reflected on the experience and humorously likened it to high school dynamics. The revelation about their on-set interactions adds an interesting backstory to the making of the 1995 thriller.
