UVU’s Noorda Center Hosts Events to Celebrate Native American Heritage Month
The Noorda Center at Utah Valley University is gearing up to celebrate Native American Heritage Month with a series of engaging events that aim to educate and celebrate the rich culture and history of Native American communities.
Throughout the month of November, the Noorda Center will host a variety of events, including film screenings, panel discussions, art exhibits, and performances that highlight the contributions and achievements of Native Americans. These events will provide a platform for Native American voices to be heard and for the community to come together to learn, share, and celebrate.
One of the highlights of the month-long celebration is a performance by acclaimed Native American musician and activist, Buffy Sainte-Marie. Sainte-Marie, known for her powerful music and advocacy for Indigenous rights, will be performing at the Noorda Center on November 15th. Her performance promises to be a powerful and moving tribute to Native American culture and resilience.
In addition to the performance by Buffy Sainte-Marie, the Noorda Center will also be hosting a film screening of the critically acclaimed documentary “Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World,” which explores the influence of Native American musicians on popular music. The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Native American artists and musicians.
The Noorda Center’s celebration of Native American Heritage Month is an important opportunity for the community to come together to learn about and honor the rich culture and history of Native American communities. By providing a platform for Native American voices to be heard and celebrated, the Noorda Center is helping to promote understanding, respect, and appreciation for Native American culture and heritage.
