Shaquille O’Neal Applauds Timberwolves’ ‘Stifling’ Defense After Game 2 Victory

Former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal had high praise for the Minnesota Timberwolves’ formidable defense after their Game 2 victory against the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Semifinals, securing a commanding 2-0 series lead with a final score of 106-80.

Once again, Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards showcased his scoring prowess, leading the team with 27 points on 11 of 17 shooting, along with two rebounds and seven assists.

However, it was Minnesota’s outstanding defensive performance that stole the spotlight. Ranking as the best defense in the NBA during the regular season, the Timberwolves reinforced their reputation in Game 2 with an impressive display, amassing 12 steals and 11 blocks. The Nuggets struggled to find their rhythm, shooting a dismal 35% from the field, well below their average.

Reflecting on the game, Shaquille O’Neal, part of the Inside the NBA crew, lauded the Timberwolves’ defensive effort. “Their defense was stifling all night,” Shaq commented. “They just came out. Listen. They got Game 1. They knew that they didn’t want to mess around in Game 2. Man, they were all over the place. Guys out there playing their roles.”

With the series now shifting to Minnesota, the Timberwolves will look to close it out at home in four games. Game 3 is scheduled for Friday, May 10th.
