US LNG pipeline ADCC begins operations

“WhiteWater’s ADCC Pipeline Begins Delivery of Natural Gas to Cheniere’s Corpus Christi LNG Export Terminal in Texas”

US infrastructure company WhiteWater has announced the commencement of natural gas delivery through the ADCC Pipeline to Cheniere’s Corpus Christi LNG export terminal in Texas. The 42-inch intrastate pipeline, stretching approximately 40 miles, transports natural gas from Whistler Pipeline’s Agua Dulce Header to Cheniere’s liquefaction facility.

The ADCC Pipeline, 70% owned by Whistler Pipeline – a joint venture of WhiteWater, MPLX LP (Marathon Petroleum subsidiary), and Enbridge – with an additional 30% stake from a subsidiary of Cheniere Energy, has a capacity to transport 1.7 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas to the Cheniere Corpus Christi facility.

By enhancing natural gas infrastructure in Texas, the ADCC Pipeline opens up new demand for Permian gas, helping to reduce gas flaring in the Permian Basin. This development supports the increase of US LNG exports to international markets, positioning the US as the leading LNG supplier ahead of Australia and Qatar.

In 2023, the US became the world’s largest LNG supplier and played a significant role in almost half of the EU’s and the UK’s LNG imports. With a record 12.2 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas export projected for this year, the US continues to solidify its position as a key player in the LNG market.

The US Energy Information Agency reports a notable increase in US LNG exports over the years, with exports reaching 7.1 billion cubic feet per day in 2023. This growth further establishes the US as a major contributor to the global LNG supply chain, particularly in supplying European markets.

The successful operation of the ADCC Pipeline signifies a significant milestone in the US energy infrastructure landscape, enhancing the country’s position as a leading player in the LNG export market.
