Noah Lyles Wins Men’s 100-Meter Final at U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials

American sprinter Noah Lyles secured his spot on the U.S. Olympic team for the second time by winning the men’s 100-meter final with an impressive time of 9.83 seconds at the U.S. track and field trials in Eugene, Oregon.

Lyles’ victory was hard-fought, with Kenny Bednarek finishing a close second at 9.87 and Fred Kerley coming in third at 9.88. The competition was fierce, with Olympic silver medalist Christian Coleman finishing fourth with a time of 9.93.

Speaking after his win, Lyles credited his coach Lance Brauman for instilling confidence in him before the race, telling him to “go out there and handle business.” Lyles mentioned that he felt more comfortable in the 100-meter event and that his performance was a result of his hard work and practice.

In addition to his 100-meter success, Lyles will also be competing in the 200 meters at the trials this week. He expressed his readiness for the challenges ahead, mentioning that he aims to become the “fastest man on Earth,” a title currently held by Jamaica’s Usain Bolt.

Another standout performance at the trials came from 16-year-old Quincy Wilson, who set a new U18 world record in the men’s 400 meters with a time of 44.59 seconds. If Wilson finishes in the top three in Monday’s final, he will become the youngest male U.S. Olympic track and field athlete in history.

Lyles’ journey to redemption has been a source of motivation for him, as he reflected on his disappointment at not qualifying for the 100 in 2020. His drive to succeed and improve has led him to become a world champion and American record holder, showcasing his growth and commitment to excellence.

As the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials continue, fans can watch the action live on NBC, Peacock, and USA to see which athletes will represent the country at the 2024 Paris Games.
