Former Rival Nikki Haley to Speak at Republican National Convention on Second Day
Former rival Nikki Haley will speak at the Republican National Convention
Former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, who unsuccessfully challenged Donald Trump for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, is set to speak at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This comes after Haley had previously stated she would not attend the event.
Despite months of sparring with Trump during her campaign, Haley recently instructed her 97 delegates to vote for Trump at the convention, emphasizing the need for unity within the party.
Haley’s history with Trump has been tumultuous, with both exchanging insults and criticisms. However, Trump has hinted that Haley will have a role in his administration in the future.
The second day of the convention will also feature speeches from other prominent Republicans, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and entrepreneur-turned-Trump-surrogate Vivek Ramaswamy.
With a theme of “Make America Safe Once Again,” the convention will showcase various politicians showing support for Trump’s nomination. This includes Senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, who Trump defeated in the 2016 election.
The inclusion of Haley in the lineup adds intrigue to the event, as she navigates her complex relationship with the former president and the Republican party as a whole.
