Keegan Bradley Tapped as Potential Captain for America’s 2025 Ryder Cup Team
America’s 2025 Ryder Cup team may have found its new captain in Keegan Bradley, according to a report from Sports Illustrated. Bradley, who was overlooked for the team’s 2023 roster, is set to lead the American squad against Europe at Bethpage next year.
Initially, Tiger Woods was the front runner for the captaincy, but he expressed that he was tied up with the PGA Tour-Saudi Arabia alignment project, leaving the opportunity open for Bradley. Woods may still play an advisory role depending on Bradley’s preferences.
Bradley’s selection marks a significant turnaround in his Ryder Cup journey, as his absence from the 2023 team led to much debate. The U.S. team suffered a crushing defeat in Rome, and the team management is hoping for a better outcome on home soil at Bethpage Black.
With six PGA Tour victories under his belt, including the 2011 PGA Championship, Bradley brings experience and a winning mentality to the captaincy role. Despite not playing in international team events since 2014, Bradley boasts a strong record in previous Ryder and Presidents Cup appearances.
The official announcement of Bradley’s captaincy is expected to come on Tuesday from the PGA of America. Other contenders for the position include Stewart Cink, Davis Love III, and Fred Couples. Team Europe has already confirmed Luke Donald as their captain for the upcoming Ryder Cup, setting the stage for an exciting showdown in 2025.
