Youth and Sports Ministry allocates Rp516 billion for 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week

The 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) is set to be a historic event with the Youth and Sports Ministry allocating a budget of Rp516 billion (US$31.9 million). This significant budget will be used for various purposes, including competition expenses, opening and closing ceremonies, and tournament facilities.

Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo expressed his excitement after the cooperation agreements were signed, stating that the government’s support has been secured for the PON. The event, scheduled to take place from September 8–20, 2024, will feature 67 sports, with competitions divided between Aceh and North Sumatra.

Ariotedjo emphasized the importance of all parties working together to ensure a successful PON, highlighting the significance of the event for national sports achievements and regional economic improvement. This year’s PON will mark a new chapter in history as it is the first time the competition will be held in two provinces.

With high hopes for the success of the Aceh-North Sumatra PON, the minister encouraged collaboration and synergy among all involved parties. The event is expected to be a milestone in Indonesian sports, showcasing talent, sportsmanship, and unity across the nation.
