Lucid Air Sapphire vs. Dodge Demon 170: A Drag Racing Face-off Reveals a Clear Winner

In the ongoing saga of drag racing dominance, the Lucid Air Sapphire continues to stun enthusiasts. Recently, the 1,234-horsepower electric sedan blazed through a 1.77-second zero to 60 mph sprint, followed by an 8.9-second quarter-mile time. This time, it faces an unlikely challenger, the Dodge Challenger Demon 170, in a DragTimes video, promising an exciting showdown.

The Dodge Challenger Demon 170 and Lucid Air Sapphire may seem like polar opposites, but both are capable of running the quarter-mile in under 9 seconds. The Demon 170 boasts 1,025 horsepower from its supercharged V-8, specifically engineered for drag racing. On the other hand, the Lucid Air Sapphire, with its tri-motor powertrain producing 1,234 hp, comes equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport street tires, lacking the drag slicks typical for drag racing.

In their latest encounter, the Lucid Air Sapphire emerged as the undeniable victor. Despite the Demon 170’s prowess on the quarter-mile strip, the Sapphire consistently outperformed it. Clocking a quarter-mile time of 9.01 seconds at 153 mph, the Lucid Air Sapphire left the Demon 170 trailing behind. Even without the advantage of drag tires, the Lucid’s all-wheel drive enabled it to achieve a remarkable 1.44-second 60-foot time, leaving spectators in awe.

With yet another win under its belt, the Lucid Air Sapphire now stands as a formidable contender in the world of drag racing. Enthusiasts eagerly anticipate its future face-off against the Rimac Nevara, expecting another thrilling showdown. Until then, the Lucid Air Sapphire proudly holds the title of the world’s quickest quarter-mile production car.
