On April 14, 2025, a 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Julian, approximately 4 km south of the area, at 10:10 a.m. local time. The earthquake, which occurred at a depth of around 8 miles, was felt across Southern California, from Tijuana to Los Angeles County. The U.S. Geological Survey reported multiple aftershocks of magnitude 2.5 or higher, but no significant damage was reported by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. The earthquake impacted transportation services in the region.
