Laysara: Summit Kingdom Makes Unexpected Debut on Steam

In an exciting turn of events for gamers, the highly anticipated vertical city-builder “Laysara: Summit Kingdom” has made its surprise debut on Steam in early access. This game challenges players to construct a city on rugged cliffs and towering mountains, providing a thrilling blend of strategy and survival elements.

Despite not typically gravitating towards city-builder games due to their complexity, the innovative concept of “Laysara: Summit Kingdom” has captured my attention. The game promises an adrenaline-pumping experience as players endeavor to build and sustain cities on steep terrains while dodging catastrophic ice balls—a perilous yet intriguing task.

Originally slated for a 2023 release, developer Quite OK Games had to delay the launch to early 2024 to enhance game quality. According to a recent Steam announcement, the small team of three needed additional time to ensure a well-rounded and enjoyable game for all city-builder enthusiasts. “Delivering a polished and complete experience at launch is our commitment, even if it requires more time,” the post explained.

At launch, the early access version offers six scenarios set across diverse mountainous landscapes. These maps vary in completion time, from a few hours to potentially tens of hours, depending on the player’s skill in avoiding avalanches. Players can tackle these scenarios in standard mode or test their limits in the challenging bite-sized scenario mode. For those who prefer aesthetics over strategy, a free build mode allows for unrestricted creativity.

Although the full campaign mode is still in development and expected to be included in the final release, which is anticipated to occur within 6-12 months, the early access phase is already drawing significant interest. Having sampled the game’s demo last year and recognizing it as one of Steam Next Fest’s standout games, I’m eager to dive into the full experience. Moreover, renowned city-builder aficionado Chris Livingston has expressed his enthusiasm for “Laysara,” emphasizing the captivating gameplay and stunning visuals that allow players to fully engage with their mountainous creations.

“Laysara: Summit Kingdom” is not just a game—it’s a test of strategic planning and resilience, promising to offer an unforgettable experience for both seasoned gamers and newcomers to the city-building genre.
