Latest Update on Ukraine War: Putin Indicates Willingness to Engage with Trump on Peace Negotiations | Global News

Putin’s Response to US Election Debate and Trump’s Plans for Ending War

In a recent statement, Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed that he was too busy to watch the US election debate between President Donald Trump and Joe Biden, but he reiterated his preference for Biden as the future US president remains unchanged. Despite Trump’s statements about swiftly ending the war in Ukraine if re-elected, Putin stated that Russia takes Trump’s words seriously but lacks details on his peace proposals.

Putin emphasized that Moscow would not declare a ceasefire in Ukraine until Kyiv takes irreversible and acceptable steps, dismissing the possibility of appealing to the Ukrainian parliament for peace negotiations. Last month, Putin stated that Russia would only end the war in Ukraine if Kyiv dropped its NATO ambitions and handed over four provinces claimed by Moscow, a proposal that was quickly rejected by Kyiv.

The Russian leader’s comments highlight the ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, as well as the potential impact of the US presidential election on international relations. Despite his busy schedule, Putin continues to closely monitor developments in the US election and its implications for global security.
